Fliss and Ari - Out of our winter comfort zone
When I arrived, I was very thankful for the cosy Theory Hut, cake and coffee at the ready and the warmth of the fiery hot log burner, whilst Ari took comfort munching away at hay in the barn.
It was one of those days when my own 'Basic Horsemanship Skills' were put to the test from the very start. I was grateful I had developed my ability to pull a trailer over the last 2 years, attaining my towing licence and a vehicle capable of towing. In addition to developing Ari’s acceptance of the trailer and becoming a much happier and confident traveller. This meant that a bit of wind and the M5 weren't going to stand in my way of developing my piaffe and preparation for lead changes!
It really confirmed to me how important these foundational skills are. They are the ingredients of the bigger picture and what gets us to where we want to be, closer to our goals and dreams! For me this means setting myself and my horse up, so we can access new knowledge and experience and above all to be inspired.
It was an extraordinary day and Ari and I went home tired, full of new awareness and understanding, and lots to work on! Great energy and oomph for our winter training....
Can't wait for the next one...
Fliss and Ari xx
