Facilities at Dudmaston Stud
Set in 40 acres of beautiful rolling Shropshire hills Dudmaston Stud is a rare find.
We pride ourselves on allowing the horse to live as naturally as possible allowing the horses and humans to thrive.
The main herd is one of the most powerful ways to educate physically and mentally both the horses and the humans. With an age range of foals to those in their golden years, this happy social equilibrium allows the horses to discover boundaries, gain confidence, strength and can help to rehabilitate horses.
The Barn is another of Dudmaston Stud's educational facilities, which we use to develop "the daily ritual." We use this to educate the horses to tie calmly and also to socialise. Also allowing a light and bright undercover area for any management activities such as veterinary/podiatrist/farrier visits. Conveniently placed next door is our secure tack room so you don't have far to travel to get your equipment.
We have a 20m x 60m arena with a sand and turf float surface which gives the horse a footing as if they were moving on high quality turf, which is excellent for movement and joint function. It also has a full 20m of arena mirrors allowing you to assess straightness and see your horses development real time.
Overlooking the main arena is the Theory Hut, where clinic theory takes place, and also an area to observe training or to relax by the log burner with a drink and one of the books from our Genuine Horse Development, Lending Library.
We also have a 25m sand round pen which is an excellent starting place for training. It has a continual wall of sleepers making it a perfect environment to work with young horses.
We also have a Picadero, which is a 25m square pen and an excellent space for working the horses at Liberty and also to help develop straightness.
With 24 hour supervisor with Arran and Mark living on site this allow you to have peace of mind that your horses health and well being will always be maintained.
Our last facility which we would like to share with you is the atmosphere we maintain at Dudmaston. We like to encourage a welcoming and supportive environment for all ages and abilities. We want people to feel confident to educate and develop their horses and themselves.
